Cape Elizabeth Lighthouses
I ventured to Cape Elizabeth, Maine to get some lobster and check out the lighthouses. The area is known as "Two Lights" due to the was originally built in 1828 as two rubble stone towers 300 yards apart. In 1874, both structures were replaced by towers made of cast-iron. There is a Two Lights State Park named after the twin Cape Elizabeth Lights in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
The park opened in 1961 and offers views of Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Originally twin lighthouses, the second has been inactive since 1924. The active light is the most powerful on the New England coast.
