Goblin Valley State Park, Utah

Goblin Valley is where the soft sandstone has eroded into interesting shapes, somewhat resembling goblins. In some spots the rock formations are close together and produces a maze. The landscape has a surreal appearance and the movie Galaxy Quest was filmed here.

There are so many hoodoos and hoodoo rocks that are referred to as "goblins" which are formations of mushroom shaped rock pinnacles. These rock shapes come from an erosion resistant layer of rock layered on top of softer sandstone. We saw similar hoodoo formations in Bryce Canyon National Park on our National Park road trip. Super cool!
